Salida Fiber Festival Colorway 2024
Every year the Salida Fiber Festival creates a colorway inspired by a photo that highlights something about the Salida area or Colorado. The following year there is a contest where people can showcase their creations using the colorway. It’s a really fun way to engage makers and highlight vendor’s interpretation of the colorway. This year the theme was Colorful Salida.
I made the colorway in two types of yarn, which give you the opportunity to get really creative!
Worsted Weight 80% Shaniko Merino with 20% Bombyx Silk: “Strong back. Soft Front. Wild heart.” To me this phrase encompasses this yarn beautifully. It’s a solid 3 ply yarn and the silk gives it a lovely drape and luster, and it’s a wool that is born and raised in the wild west and milled in North Carolina making it a 100% US Merino.
3ply / 100g / 220 yards
Lace weight 70% Mohair with 30% Bombyx Silk: Oh mohair, how I love thee. The silk base gives this yarn a strong and luxurious foundation and the mohair provides its trademark halo. Just a delight to work with.
50 grams / 437 yards
Please note: these are sets of the colorway that include one of each color. For single skeins of the Mohair and Silk yarn go here; and for single skeins of the Shaniko merino and silk go here
